It's a "Hot" One

Today was the day where I didn't really need a jacket in the city.  I must say, I prefer the cooler weather, especially when that's what I'm expecting.  However, that's not what I received when I woke up this morning sweating.  Meanwhile, my three dogs were lounged over me making me even more cranky.  Yes, I love the sun shine, but typically there is a cool breeze that comes along with it here.  I guess today the breeze didn't feel like blowing in the Bay Area, and for the first time I wished for air conditioning, or at least a different geographical location.  The flip side to this heat you may be asking yourselves; I get to order take-out.  It's way to hot to cook in the kitchen tonight, so my new "Caramelized-Onion and Gorgonzola Grilled Pizza" is going to have to wait for a cooler night. Enjoy your weekends!

What's for Dinner

For those of you who may not know, James and I have been Pescatarian's for awhile now; aside from the week the girls were in town.  Tonight I've decided to make a Roasted Vegetable Stew.  If you've never roasted vegetable's, don't worry it's simple and the end result is quite delicious.  The roasting process make the veggies tender, sweet, and mouthwatering.  You'll taste new flavor's from the vegetables that you probably haven't before.  Below is the recipe, and it's quick and easy to make.  A great side dish for this is Jiffy Cornbread, recipe is on the back of the box, and you can add a kick to it by adding a can of Mexicorn to the batter. Roasted Vegetable Stew Ingredients: 1          Zucchini 1          Yellow Squash 1          Green Bell Pepper, diced 1          Jalapeno Pepper, diced (adds a spicy kick) 1          Can Diced Tomatoes, (I get the ones that are flavored with Garlic and Oregano) 6          Cloves of Garlic, cut into 4's 1/...

Great Deals

Just like anyone else out there, getting a good deal on clothes, electronics, or travel is always a plus.  Especially with the economy being how it is today.  On my walk with my friend Susan yesterday, she told me about a website that can give you promotional codes for pretty much anything you might be shopping for.   Typically when you want to get a great deal on something you have to sign up and give your personal information.  By the end of the process your mailbox is fluttering with junk mail just because you were trying to save a few bucks.  Well, there is finally a website that just lets you click on the item you may want, and up pops your promotion code.  All you have to do is go the the website of your product and type in the code.  It's as easy as 1,2,3.   Here is the website:  www.promotioncodes.com Enjoy!!

Dinner of Chance

Tonight is a night when I enjoy a glass of wine along with my meal.  Who am I kidding, I have a glass every night with my meal.  I have the wine chosen, poured, and ready to enjoy; only problem is I haven't figured out just yet what to make.  I do what any person would and rummage through the pantry.  Only to find that there is NOTHING to eat.  What did I think I would eat?  This is where a creative mind, and a joy for cooking comes in.  First, I start off by roasting some veggies I have in the crisper; squash, tomatoes, onion, potato, garlic, and onion.  Turns out to smell so yummy, so then I check to see if I have any vegetable or chicken stock.  Yes, you guessed it, I didn't have either.  Next, I check to see if I have any bouillon, and I'm humbled at the fact that I do.  (For those of you that don't know what that is; it's a cube of seasoning to make your own flavor of stock.)  After, the stock is made I then put my veggies in the pot.  I get out my handy little...

Favorite Sandwich

Tonight was something special to me.  I decided to make my favorite sandwich my mom would make me when I was little.  What could this amazing sandwich be?  Well, I'll tell you.   First, you start with an Iron skillet coated in butter.  Not the butter substitute people use because they've made themselves believe it tastes like the real thing.  Actual artery clogging, mouthwatering, hips are gonna grow butter.  After it's melted and slightly bubbly you add your egg.  Watch the magic happen as your egg fries in the crackling pool of "mmm", you guessed it, butter.   Remove your egg from the skillet and place onto a slice of bread that has been spread by Mayo.  Add a slice of swiss and enjoy! This is also known as an Egg sandwich; for those of you who didn't catch it.

Potty training your dog: Is there really such a thing?

My typical morning usually starts off with coffee, breakfast, and the morning walk with each of my Cavalier’s.  Sometimes they make it to the front door, other times, it seems they are never going to get the hang of potty training.  Take the middle one in the group for instance; Miss Sophie Sunshine.  She is adorable in every way possible; a bit of a pistol, but so intelligent.  At first, she had going to the door and ringing the bell down, but now, the back door can be open and she will pee right in front of it.  I’m running out of paper towels, as well as my patience.  I guess it’s back to the drawing board for these three must haves.   Advice of the day:  I love my dogs to pieces, but definitely think about the kind of patience wave length your on before adding another; or two in my case, into the mix.
