Recap to my summer...

Well, the summer has started wrapping up, which means there is so much to do to get ready for school. Picking out school clothes is always a great way to start of the year, which my youngest step-daughter is extremely pumped for, especially since she gets to go beyond her clothing budget for this event. I remember when my mom would take me school shopping, and we weren't allowed to wear any, and I mean any of the clothes before school started. I happen to agree that it should be that way. Back then, not so much, but now as a parent it actually makes sense. You have to be careful, especially with boys wearing their clothes before school starts because you don't want them to be ruined before they actually get a chance to start wearing them in the halls. With girls I imagine it's much more difficult because of course they want to show off their proud, new purchases to all the other girls. Let's face it, it's the other girls who you're trying to impress anyways. If you don't agree, you're lying to yourself.

This summer boasted some great memories for the Harvey family. We went to Hawaii for vacation, which was the first trip away from my son, Liam, who stayed with my parent's in Dallas. We laid by the pool, drank some beer, and gained even more weight that is now going to take me even longer to shed before winter. One of the things I realized while on vacation is that women who are overweight don't care how they look in a two piece, so they definitely don't give a shit what you think they look like. There were barely there swimsuits on some of these women, and they wore them like it was 1995. Luckily, I had the beer goggles on most of the time by the pool.

Megan, the youngest, also started driver's education today, which means soon she will be behind the wheel of a vehicle (everyone look out). However, she assured me that her mom said she's a better driver than her older sister, Lauren. Let's hope so, because she won't be getting much practice done if I don't feel safe in the car with her.

Lastly, my son, Liam has started on baby food, and taken a liking to crawling...everywhere! Liam has grown up so fast, and I only wish I had more time to capture every second. I will admit that he is much more fun now, then he was when we brought the precious baby boy home from the hospital. I can't wait for the day I say "no". Without him just smiling back at me, which I fear will be quite some time.

We also moved into a new house this summer, which I love. The only thing I've found to be annoying as of right now, is the fact that if I want water in the middle of the night, it takes me too long to get to the kitchen to get it, which kind of sucks. The same with the front door. People think they need to ring the doorbell multiple times before I hear. Newsflash...you don't I heard it the first, second, third, and fourth time you rang it. I want to tell them that they now have to stay and take care of my son, who's nap they just disrupted. Let's face it, nobody likes to have a cranky baby, and I love him, but I'm one of them.
